Hey DVX users,

I just got a 100a, and have been reading these forums for a while and this is the best, THE BEST site for info on the DVX. It convinced me to buy it. All the video I see here is very pro looking and it is really inspiring.

OK, on to the questions:

Anyone use the Quickstream DV with Mac and FCP 4.5? I read the review and almost messed my pants, then saw they were having QC problems and saw in another thread that they weren't ready. But they seem to be selling fast on the site.

Also, I saw on the Varizoom website that they are coming out with a programmable remote manual focus. Is this the same thing as the follow focus units that you have to mount on cameras?

Thanks in advance for any help, and look out, I'll be posting some clips this summer.

Cool, welcome Dman. If you want your DVX tweaked for optimal perfomance, send it to me and I'll take care of it 8) ...for free too! :)

Instead of the QuickStream, take a look at the nNovia QuickCapture. Looks like an all-around more robust system with more features (especially the ability to play back clips from the drive).

Hey Barry,

I see that you can playback on this one. Now, is it possible to use this as a scratch disk? Can you edit in FCP directly from the drive so you keep disk space free?

As near as I can tell, yes, it can be used as a standard firewire hard disk and you can edit directly from it. Caution: I don't have one yet, so I'm just reporting on what I've read, but I *think* you can...
