I know I know...sounds like a dumb question.

The way I see it, anybody who takes photography seriously should own..

a prime lens
a macro
a wide angle
a normal lens
and a tele

am I on the right track here?

I already have my sights set for a prime lens and a wide angle already.

A Canon 50mm 1.8 for Prime
and a Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 for Wide angle

can anybody recommend anything for the rest; macro, normal, and tele.

a 70-200 f4 or if you have money 2.8

your tele MUST have a way to attach to the sticks or it will be useless (for filming)

I love my 55 2.8 nikkor manual

the 50 1.8 is baad to focus get a 50 1.4 or some oldschool 50

that would be a good lens set

If you do RnG the other thing you may need is a mid range zoom, tokina 16-50 for the 7 or 24-105 for the 5

-------

ps I know a photographer cant rememer his name but he is serious and published and paid - he only ownes a 35mm lens and has used it to create a trademark look so there are no rules
