What is a scene file?

Look in the "scene file" menu. All those settings can be saved onto your SD memory card, and that particular combination of settings is called (collectively) a "scene file".

@ Zaza: I am sorry, but could you please translate your comment; I have no idea what a "camera setting pre-set" means. Thank you.

Basically there are many adjustments that change how the camera sees the image collected by the sensors. Settings such as saturation, detail, low light sensitivity and others. I think there are about 20-30 adjustments in all. your camera can keep 6 sets of these on board at the ready for different situations. An entire set of tweaked adjustments is a preset (scenefile). the advantage of this is that you can chance the way the camera behaves on the fly without having to change every setting every time.

Read Barry's post...and the best thing you can do is buy his book. It's great and explains thing much better then the manual.

...but still... read the manual with the camera in your hands, you need to understand your new toy.
