What is a panasonic upgrade from an HVX200a?

Can someone post what the natural panasonic upgrade for the cameras are?

I know HVX200a is an upgrade from a DVX100b, but what is the next upgrade from an HVX200a? And what is the next upgrade from that? Etc.

And what what about it, makes it an upgrade? Etc?

The HPX170 is, IMO, an upgrade from the HVX200. The HVX200A shares the same chips, so in imaging it's a wash, but in handling and features the HPX170 was just a much nicer camera to use in all ways.

The next upgrade from that is the HPX250, which has substantially sharper imagery, a much longer lens (22x instead of 12x) and a higher-quality codec (10-bit AVC-Intra).

If staying within the P2 camp, the progression would be HVX200a->HPX170 (+extra ND, DRS, HD-SDI, other upgrades) ->HPX250 (newest P2 handheld, AVC-Intra, longer lens, other stuff) ->HPX370 (shoulder-mount, removeable lenses, etc) ->HPX3700 (full on 2/3" sensor ENG-style 5-slot glory) . Other older/incremental upgrades are also available (ie, HPX500 - somewhat old, but being 2/3" ENG could be a better camera than the HPX170/250 depending upon your need)

If you're not devoted to P2, there's a mess of better Panasonic cameras available... just mix n' match your requirements.

In handheld P2, no. Well, there's an HPX255, but it's the exact same camera as the HPX250, it just adds a remote paintbox control.

To upgrade past the HXP250, you have to follow the path mcbob outlined above -- shoulder-mount HPX370 followed by 2/3" cameras like the forthcoming HPX600 or the HPX3100.

Thanks a lot McBob. That's very helpful!
So what is considered the top of the line best camera Panasonic makes? I realize we're going to probably be entering the 6 figure price tag area, but is there a panasonic pro camera that is considered the absolute creme de la creme?
