What is a fast way to earn money with a hvx200?

Fastest way to make money with it is to have it insured and run it over :) JK. It is starting to get a little out dated tho, and the demand is low due to everyone on the planet owning one. I used to get 3-5 rentals a week with my 200 then it died down a bit so I got the 170. The rentals then picked up a little with the 170, but then again they started to die out. I finally sold my 170 a couple months back and I am sub-renting one when needed until I get my AF100.

Don't get discouraged, you can find work with that camera still. You just have to know how to talk, and how to get the best possible image out of that camera. Check the local craigslist for your area, I find a lot of lower budget entry level work from their posts. It's not glorious work by any means, but it allows you to build a reel and buy some ramen noodles. Remember though, a camera is not the only aspect of production. If you need money fast, and want to make it through video production, you need lights, tripods, monitors, grip equipment, P2 Cards, and batteries. The cost of all these will dwarf the initial investment you put in your HVX, and finding work that will pay you to rent all these things will be extremely difficult without a reel.

Get a business plan. Get a partner or two. Find some clients. Actually it is best to find the clients first to know that you have the business BEFORE you purchase all the gear you need. The gear you have and talent will determine the type of work you can get. But you will defiantly need top gear to demand top dollar. My business is in its second year and will do seven figures. I shoot with an HVX200 (started with a DVX100) with a Letus35 and Zeiss lens, Marshall Monitor, Panasonic client monitor, Kino-Flo Diva lights, Lowel Riffa lights, just to name a few. You'll also need good audio gear, good tripod etc...I just picked up a Kessler Cineslider and pre-ordered the AG-AF100. If you work hard, the work will come your way.
