What is a fair price for this dvx?

If you were buying a used dvx100b with about 500hours on it How much would you be willing to pay? It also comes with a shotgun mic and maybe a battery or two.

What is a reasonable non lowball price?

Also, if I am able to take a look at this in person, what should I look for or watch out for?

Finally, and possibly off topic, can 24pA footage be captured on a cheap consumer dv cam? I have an older Sony cam that I might try to use.
 
what you want you can probably find a deal for around 1100 - 1300

make sure he shows you the hours - make sure the zoom and focus rings are smooth - look for and scratches or cracks obviously - hold the lense in the light to make sure there arent any scratches on that - make sure the eye piece works

and by your 24pa Question
it probably doesnt RECORD 24p - but if you meant took the tape from your your dvx and upload it through the old sony cam to the computer then yes, as long as its mini dv
