What is a diversity mic?

Diversity means more than one. As regards wireless mics, it means dual antennae and dual RF front ends (tuners) in a wireless receiver. Some companies cheap out and use an antenna switcher with two antennae but not two separate rf front ends. They sometimes call that diversity.

maybe you will learn something before you post as every lectrosonic use divercity antenna switching .
you can make it before the reciever or you can make it with 2 recievers as audios

No, one channel.

Yes, important feature...unless you either don't care or feel you are immune to drop-outs. For narratives moving the rx antenna usually provides a good fix, so YMMV. On shoots where you don't have a second take (ie docs) drop-outs are a much bigger concern and diversity becomes key to getting a consistent signal.

Cheers

PS-diversity is a feature of wireless not lavs or mics; the distinction is important.

Oleg,

You don't like me, but then you don't like much of the world, so I'm in good company. Please let us know how many forums you have been kicked off of because of your abusive behavior.

Full diversity has meant a double front end for years now. I didn't create diversity receivers, but that's the definition. Antenna switchers are not full diversity.

Having said that, I would take a Lectrosonics wireless over almost any out there with the possible exception of an Audio Ltd.

you not only deaf you probably blind 2 , check the avatar
and that is the only forum i was ever left and was returned ( twice ,,,,)
antenna diversity works exactly the same , it checks where is the better signal and pass it , that's how lectro works for years , except the venue which could work in other way 2 if you combine 2 receivers.
now as we cleared the issue and the definition :-) of the issue ,you have opportunity to check the nevaton , maybe you will learn something new
and Ty I dont tlike you and donr really respect your waves :-)

There is no such thing as a diversity mic. Diversity only happens in a radio reciever (having two built-in recievers for the same channel and picking the better signal at each moment).

Why are lavaliers and wireless mics always intermixed? A transmitter can be plugged on any type of microphone or even a mixer.

No answers, please, just feeling nitpicky.

Okay now that we're full circle...

Hey Petrus,

I think that happens for the sake of brevity, but you're right.

"Put a wireless on him" refers to a mic and a transmitter.

Mic, or mike?

Lav or lapel?

Audio or sound?

I'm sure ther are others.

Ty Ford
