I have seen many posts with 35mm adapters atached to the fromt of a dvx100. I read that is makes a shallower depth of field? I don't know anything about this topic but why do people need that and is that the only reason to have a 35mm adapter? I have a lot of 35mm photography equipment so I was wondering if this would somehow benefit me.

Thank you much

it is an adapter that allows you to connect a 35mm lens to the end of it. 35mm lenses are often used for still photography and when using it on a video camera, it gives you shallow depth of field which in turn gives you a very filmic look. i also have around 8 different 35mm lenses laying around so that is why i've decided to build my own adapter and utilize them. one downside to the adapter is that it creates light loss, although if you have good enough lighting to compensate for it then it shouldn't be any problem. (i actually like the darker look anyways..)

Yup. The basic question has been answered. For the specifics on how to get or build one, run a search.
