What Insurance Do You Get?

We've been buying more equipment lately, and i wonder what insurance to get.

We keep our equipment at home. We shoot probably half at home, half in the field. Don't really travel much for jobs. Do not have an actual business, we consider ourselves self employed and create online video content.

Not sure if we should insure everything under Renter's Insurance? Take out a separate policy for just the equipment that covers accidental damage? Not too familiar with it, and just wanted to hear what some of you people have done.

Thanks for any replies!

Last time I looked at renter's insurance (it's been 10 years since I've rented my living space), they wouldn't touch gear with a 10-foot pole. I ended up going with small business insurance which covers the gear and has a liability policy as well, but you need to talk to your insurance agent about which policies will cover your needs the best.

My home insurance has coverage for a home business. Surprisingly even for when I travel internationally. The deductible is around a thousand but definitely worth covering catastrophic loss.

The two essentials are liability cover and equipment insurance. Equipment cover needs to include cover whilst in transit.
