What I see is Not what I Get...

I need someone to explain some fundementals to me..
I shoot with the dvx and I capture into premiere..
When I burn a DVD and play it back on a TV it cuts off the sides and the top and bottom..

so... I turned on the title and motion safe guides in the editing program and I see that the image naturally spills pass the outer 'safe' line...

How do I bring back some of the picture that is lost outside of these guide lines?

Watch it on a different TV :)

The SAFE zone is just that. If you are outside that area, some TV's may cut it off.
If you make the image smaller to bring it all inside the safe zone, you will have to decide what to show on the border. Other TV's may show that border. Not sure how to do it in Premiere.

I've done a little more experimenting and I find that the viewfinder of the dvx shows us what the TV displays (about 585x435).. which is exactly the action safe editing area of most software.

The problem is when you make a dvd you will come out with a TV size image(585x435) not 720x480. When you make a windows media file you get the whole image..

Maybe someone can direct me to an online tutorial that explains this whole dilema.

thanks :)
