No. It means you have nothing to worry about. You won't wear out your heads.
If there's an official "rating" of "head life" hours given, it's always going to be far lower than the heads can actually take.
The DVX has been in service for nearly eight years. Shooters have put thousands and thousands of hours on theirs. If anyone's ever worn out the heads, I don't know of it.
Sure, there have been other problems, but they didn't have anything to do with head wear.
Ok. But i surely will have to get my heads cleaned at some stage? I have about 260 hours on my camera so far as ive barely used it. (Shame on me!), thats not alot right?
I have read in another post about the shaking lcd picture/grinding noise/psd ng message issue. the poster said that warning message and the shaking picture don't pose a problem (on tape), but what i've found is that the grinding noise comes through on the built in microphone (and subsequently, the recorded footage). is there any way to work around at least the noise issue?
Dunno about Panasonic. If I remember correctly, Sony recommends cleaning the heads every 500 hours (not with a tape, but in a service center) and replacing the drum unit when it reaches 2000 hours.
