What format is the external Firewire Drive??

If I have a firewire drive that I want to use to dump video from the HVX, what format is the drive? FAT32, NTFS, or something else?

The format that your drive currently is, is irrelevant. The HVX will reformat it before its first use. And it will allocate a new FAT32 partition for each card that you offload to it.

So you want to make sure the drive is absolutely empty before using it with the HVX for the first time.
