What External monitor should I get for 27" iMac

What will you being viewing on the external monitor using what output?

Perhaps you can explain what you wish to do in some detail.

Saying "Final Cut" doesn't provide much information.

Help us out with an explanation, because an external monitor has to be connected to the iMac using some port.
 
i'm not sure what port to use. I'm only in the preliminary stages of looking. I want to view the canvas on a separate monitor mostly :)

The 27" screen is pretty big within it self and if you want something the quality of an iMac screen your looking to spend at least $900+


Now if you only want your canvas then just get any monitor as quality is really not that important. Now if you want a professional solution (broadcast) it's going to cost well over $2k
 
Yeah I don't care if it's broadcast quality. I just want it full hd just so I can see how the sequence is playing out on a big screen. Having said that does anyone have any suggestions about this? I was looking round the Dell or BenQ route???
