EVERY 5 minutes, this **** KEEPS popping up in my editing! And it FREEZES Premiere TOTALLY and I can't save or ANYTHING. And it has happened SO MANY TIMES that I've clicked all of these options. but no matter WHAT I click, the same thing happens: The whole program just shuts down and closes, unsaved. WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?! (I'M SO MAD RIGHT NOW!!!!!, sorry for my language)

What version of premiere?

What are the specs on your machine? How old is it?

What type of video are you trying to edit?

Have you had any other programs just randomly crash?

Is it totally random? Or does it happen after a particular clip is loaded?

Have you tried reinstalling premeire with absolutely nothing running in the background?

Just wanted to throw these out there so I could possibly help you find a solution

A few more questions to help you out.

Is that your first project in Premiere?

If no, did previous projects run smoothly?

Do you have any anti-virus software running on your machine? (if yes, you should remove it)

Did you try defragmenting your drive?

Nope, just this.

It happens when i drag something from track one to track two. And When I drag something RIGHT after clipping it.

No.

No, just my first time in the first version. I usually run off the latest, but something happened to it.

Never in this old version. Always in the new one

Norton...but I thought you could trust Norton?
Did you try defragmenting your drive?

there are your answers

OK, from the grab and your comments I will assume for the rest of the board you are talking about version 1.5

Adobe support would probably be the correct forum to answer your question specifically. As for me, looks like you have c++ or some other programming software installed which has as debugger. I would try disabling the debugger (cannot answer that as I only run vb6) and then try running Premiere.

cmon whitewood, you didnt know what they were asking when they asked for specs or for the type of video? anyone even slightly experienced in filmmaking would understand that the SPECS are things like your computer's speed, memory, OS, etc. the TYPE of video... why would we care if it's dance, comedy, or hell even PORN?? the TYPE would be like, DV AVI video or Quicktime .MOV video...

man. sorry, that just really got me fumin' -- i'm pretty sure by "first" he means 1.5 -- anyways, errors suck. but man, youve got to understand WHAT youre doing before you can fix anything!!

Go into Windows Explorer and try running the most recent auto-save file. That may be your best bet.

I've had a couple of those "instant shutdown" type of errors. Thankfully, the auto-save feature worked.

What's a debugger?

And how do I get rid of it?

well..I can't say that it was ANY type of movie yet, cause I haven't exported it yet. I shot it in 24P and chose NTSC 48 (however you say) to edit it. Because 1.0 is full of presets, you can't customize anything, not even how it's exported.

so youre saying that you havent yet captured it off of your camera and onto your hard drive? -- and do you mean 1.5?

Yes. I guess (Don't see how 1.FIVE could be the FIRST ONE...just seems wired..) And yes, I did capture the footage from my cam to the hard drive. That's how I'm editing it.

Well then your video IS indeed a file TYPE. Premiere 1.5 captures as Windows DV AVI files... THIS would have been your answer, not "dance".

Also, 1.5 isn't the "first" version of premiere. you're the only one that called it that.

"first one"...wow that means you can't work with DV AVI files and you don't have firewire...no wonder it crashes. :)

going to presume you mean premiere pro and maybe 1.5...though since you said "first" you may have 1.0...something i haven't seen you state. so which version do you have - click help and then select about - is it the full version or a trial?

you should be able to customize your export, but right now that's not your problem.

what's your OS? how much RAM? and are you using a separate drive for your video?

is that a joke? lol if it is then yes, it IS getting interesting...

What type of video are you trying to edit?
um...a dance video?? what do u mean 'type'?

hahahahahahaha im a dick.
