Unable to open specified video output device.
May be in use bu other application, incorrectly connected, or maybe conflicting with sound input device.

Now I know it's hooked up right.
Not sure if Imovie or Iphoto running in macbook pro is the reason.

Or is there something that I have to do with the camera..switching over anything?

Thanks.

The order to download from DVX ????

What does this mean? How do I fix it?

What does this mean? How do I fix it?

I'm trying to download video to my macbook pro from the DVX.
My first time.

The computer says.

Unable to open specified video output device.
Maybe in use by other applications, incorrectly connected, which I know it's not.

Or maybe conflicting with sound input devise.

How can I fix it?

with which application are you trying to capture your video ?
is it final cut?

if so check where the hard drive it set to. I had problems before on this so that's my advice.(but I don't think this is the problem...)
anyway I'm not super familier with final cut so maybe you should ask this at the FCP thread.(if you're using final cut)

Just for today I'm going to be using the DVX, Im trying to work with final cut just getting use to the editing. From there I plan on buying a slave camera.
Just for oday the DVX.
Im asuming I have to close down the Imovie and IDVD on my apple. I'll check that first...not sure if there still running.

If not I'll restart again.

When I close down after capturing I suppose I should disconnect the firewire from the camera first after I shut the power off...than shut the computer down...kind of opposite of how to hook it up first? Is that correct or does it matter??

Thanks

I'm just using the final cut express 4 that came with the apple lap top. I'm thinking some other programs like Imovie and IDVD may not be shut down.

if you're using final cut then you shouldn't have problems capturing.
I don't know why it's not doing it.

so yeah, ask this question at the FCP threat.
good luck

Next time try asking your question once - in one forum. You've asked the same question three times!

great, it finaly worked hu.
I totally understand tho,

when you get the dvx and shoot for the first time you're so excited to edite your footage but because you don't know how to capture, there is so much frustration in front of you so you want to get it done as fast as you can
it was the same for me too...
