WHat do you use your DVX for?

I use mine as a decoration in my livingroom entertainment center. Woo hoo! ... Just kidding. Presently, mine's being used for the HORRORFEST!!!

Can opener primarily... I read stories about shorts, features etc. but all i get is a clunk noise.

Yeah like you don't have your pick! You are quite a looker! The camera only makes you sexier!

That’s so very nice of you to say.

I’ll keep that in mind as I’m stuck inside for several more days, editing, of course. You don’t meet a lot of people when you’re editing ☹.

Also, just in case the point didn't come through with the emoticons... that was meant in the best way possible :)

Just wondering becuase whenever I look at screen grabs or clips its always music videos! =/ is the DVX the official music video camera or summin? What other purposes do you guys use your camera for?

ok, serious now.

Currently, the DVX is big part of my how I make a living. That said, how I accomplish that ( making a living) will likely undergo some changes in the next 6 months. I financed my own production company working my a$$ off with weddings. Now, I'm trying to thin out the wedding work and make room for other projects in corporate, doc, and stuff I just WANT to do. As I write this, I'm totally stressed out about turning away work because I don't really have time for it...

I think you see a lot of music videos because they're fun to watch and about the right size for uploading.

Wait a minute -- the bottom of my camera says "For Commercial use Only" - you mean we can film other things than commercials?!? :)

Yeah, I only use mine to make commercials as well*. But then, I'm the kind of person who wouldn't remove those mattress tags under the penalty of law.

*Also some event work, corporate vids, and hopefully a short film or two in the near future.

i used to use it solely to make artwork. like video installations, then i took one job making a music video... then DP ing a film, now i just freelance DP. its kinda weird. alot of the film kids from NYU (my former school) would kill to be in my shoes. but its kinda like a job to me. i wish i coulld make these connections in the art world. but hey it pays bills.

well they want to be in your shoes because they are jealous filmmaking is paying the bills. I know, even thought I am only a freshman in college, that I want to make films for the rest of my days. And I want it to be my career path, as in also paying my bills. Those kids you used to school with are jugglin' one or two jobs and trying to make films on top of it.

your lucky man. hope you're happy.

cheers.

Right now I have to use my schools, so I do a lot of in-house ducumentaries. But when I get my own in march of 07, I will be shooting a documentary about the relationship that drugs and Gambling and alcohol have with each other, and how they are all intertwined with each other. Its going to be interesting since most of the people we have lined up for interviews are homless.

FYI: Its really hard to get an official ID from a homless guy next to Taco Bell
