F3: What do you guys think about an F3 with 1200 working hours on board

Hello guys.

I have an opportunity to get an F3 for a good price, the trick is that that camera has already 1200 hours on board. What do you think about this. It;s save to buy it ? Is the sensor or other components relying on running hours like still cameras have the shutter release number ?

Best regards

Mine is at 500,000 hours - still works great. I have been doing the world's longest time-lapse. Going to try to get a vimeo staff pick with it.

Unless it looks like it was physically abused I would not worry one bit about 1200 being on the counter.

Ed, according to my math, the camera started rolling the year I was born (1957) also an excellent year for Chevy. Am I missing something? That aside, since the advent of card based cameras, hours on a camera means very little.

Yeah, 500,000 hours works out to almost 58 years. Obviously, Ed got hold of an early prototype of the F3. Or maybe .... back then, was there a FILM camera called "F3"?

Hours shouldn't really matter, it shows the camera actually went out and did jobs. Not sit on the shelf or was a lemon. As long as there was no cosmetic damage or wear and tear damage on the controls, it should be fine.

haha
you guys are the best. yes it the same camera they shot I love Lucy on.

Hours don't matter on a solid state camera. Instead make sure all the buttons work and where the camera was used. I remember that one F3 that got caught in a sand storm, or one guy who dropped his in salt water. Those matter. 1200 studio and around town hours are nothing.
