What Do You Do In Bed?

Everybody that ends up on my bed loves it, but by morning the mattress seems too soft.

HA! There are just too many ways to interpret that line so I will just leave it alone...

Anyone have a Kingsdown or pillowtop anything? I have never had a real pricey mattress long-term and I thought that I have always preferred softer mattresses, but the one I have now is soft and I hate it. Its old and it came with the girlfriend. We both agree, its time to upgrade big-time. Its like sleeping on a trampoline. The tiniest move and the entire thing bounces like crazy. Its not even nice for extra-curricular activities...unless you've got perfect rhythm and can be perfectly in sync with the box springs. Talk about needing supreme concentration...

Thanks for the advice everybody...

I laughed when I typed that... but left it go anyway.

If budget is a concern then I'd get a seperate pillowtop... at Costco they have a memory foam mattress cover that's about $100 for a queen (maybe up to $120... don't remember exactly) and that's at least what the pillowtop added to my current mattress, but I wish I would have gone without the pillowtop and added my own cover so that every couple of years I could just replace the cover and have a spanking new mattress. I kept telling myself that wasn't an issue... and I don't have any problems which would cause a mattress to show signs of use... but I guess over the course of a year or two any mattress will... and I'll leave it at that.

I sleep on a real Japanese futon... a little different to the western version. Its pretty much solid with all bedroom activities including sleeping. Usually I dont make it to the bed for the other stuff, so not a huge concern.

Actually I should say, money is not really a concern. I don't want to buy a disposable bed. I just want one that I wouldnt mind dying in.

Not to cross a line or anything, but I can promise you... If you want to continue to enjoy anything with your girlfriend in bed, DO NOT BUY A TEMPER-PEDIC.

Here's a question: What do you do the most in bed? Sleep or do the rough-n-tumble with your signifficant other? I might be wrong here but I bet that at least 90% of the time spent in bed is spent sleeping.

Here are my views on the matter: Tempur Pedic is a fantastic mattress for sleeping. I had one for years but then I moved to Canada and I couldn't bring it with me. I miss it every night.

But how do you solve the girlfriend problem? I mean, with a bed that cumfy she will fall asleep instantly thus killing any chance you have at some game.... eeeh... Tempur-Pedic: The GameKiller.

However! this is not a problem at all. It's a myth that carnal activities are best enjoyed in bed. I think it has something to do with that dreadful english term "sleeping with someone". how can "going to sleep" and "sleeping with" mean two so fundamentaly different things. but I digress. Fact is the bed is the worst place for some good ol' slap and tickle. AND sexologists say that "doing it" in bed often results in a bad sex life because "it" becomes associated with being tired or exhausted etc etc. It is therefore recommended that you do "it" elswhere.

Some suggestions:

the floor
the couch
the shower
your favourite chair
kitchen counter
coffee table
up against a wall
under the kitchen table
dining table
behind the couch
up against the couch
on the porch
outside
in the car

To sum up:

Sleep in bed
Do the dirty deed elswhere. it's more fun and will give your sex life a boost like nothing else.

From Hair:

Oh the bed
Oooh the bed
Ahhh the bed
Oh the bed
Mmmm the bed
I love the bed

You can lie in bed
You can lay in bed
You can die in bed
You can pray in bed
You can live in bed
You can laugh in bed
You can give your heart
Or break your heart in half in bed

You can tease in bed
You can please in bed
You can squeeze in bed
You can freeze in bed
You can sneeze in bed
Catch the fleas in bed
All of these
Plus eat crackers and cheese in bed

Oh the bed is a thing
Of feather and spring
Of wire and wood
Invention so good

Oh the bed comes complete
With pillow and sheet
With blanket electric
And breath antiseptic

Let there be sheets
Let there be beds
Foam rubber pillows
Under our heads

Let there be sighs
Filling the room
Scanty pajamas
By Fruit of the Loom

You can eat in bed
You can beat in bed
Be in heat in bed
Have a treat in bed
You can rock in bed
You can roll in bed
Find your cock in bed
Lose your soul in bed

You can lose in bed
You can win in bed
But never never never never
Never never never never
Never never never
Never can you sin in bed!

I still don't quite get why it's hard to f**k on a Tempurpedic? That's exactly the mattress I was about to buy. Also, are memory foam mattresses hot?

They don't move, I mean it is just... well, they don't move. It's like screwing in a bowl of mousepad gel.

They are nice beds but personally I want to 'enjoy' my girlfriend everywhere and not have to avoid the bed and therefore Tempurpedics are out of the question for me...

Science... kinetic energy... stored energy. Springs, or even air, is compressed and has stored energy which wants to be released, encouraging "bounce"... which in turn facilitates tempo.

If you don't subscribe to this scientific law... which is law, not opinion... then yes I agree there are far better and more exciting places for that activity... but if you do more then sleep in your bed and you get a memory foam mattress... well the laws of motion are going to bite you in the ass.

It's like running in quicksand... there's resistance to put your foot down and resistance again to lift it up... the quicksand will ensure that you run in slow motion no matter how fast you think you are.
