what do i need a mattebox for)

i would fire any actress who told me how to shoot my movie, i wouldnt care how un popular it would make me, and they "cowboy" line is both funny and insulting, you implied you fixed something for me, like i wasnt capable of understanding the design behind my title. you have a wonderful website where people can come and share however you dont know me pal, ur assuming a lot of things about me, or prejudging, and for that reason your insulting. I wouldnt assume to tell you i fixed how you shot a movies or wrote a sentence or a title of a chat lost somewhere on the internet, unless it you asked for my oppinion or it really infringed on someone. if Your prefrence is a mattebox and actress's who direct your movie, thats fine. i believe one of the major reasons people buy them is for looks. Whether or not you can do usefull things. Thats the beauty about what were all striving to do is there is no way set in stone, its a technical art, and so there are infinite numbers of ways to do things from which we find our way develop or own techniques. i never insulted you and yet you called my title "lame" and implied i needed you and ur abilities to "fix" my title. well even if you just felt like changing it because you thought it was missleading then you called have asked, why i chose to do it that way, if i was aware it was missleading and then make your judgement call, however jumping in and being insulting and talking down to me is just silly, cuz you aint in the room with me so its easy to say things like " watch it cowboy" when the worst you can do is kick me off your site, for having done nothing wrong and admit to a god complex and a belief that you know the "right" way to do everything. or we both can understand the situation and mmove on civily, for its moments like these that really try a man's humanity.

Hey Genius (I just LOVE saying that), quit being an ass. I'd also suggest changing your member name, as the posts I've seen coming from you aren't "genius" with regard to some simple Q's, where you choose to post (i.e. this should be in hardware, etc.).

How can you change your member name, you may ask? Easy, after you're banned, you'll have to come up with a new one to get back on the board, should you choose to. :thumbsup:

Attention: IT'S AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD! Relax! Jarred is the boss around here, and you're just going to have to accept that or leave. If it wasn't for him, you wouldn't have this badass resource to come ask your questions.
 
I mentioned the banning after only reading the first few lines ... he really opens up with both guns in there. He's forgetting that he's a guest in someone else's "house", and there needs to be a certain level of respect, which he's completely lacking.

Remind me to never invite him over to my place. :grin:

My suggestion for "geniuselvs" would be to save the money that would be invested in a Mattebox and some decent glass and instead invest $20 in a keyboard with a pair of "Shift" keys.

Genius, from your post history it appears that you have a habit of making crappy post titles. Do you understand that that makes it difficult to surf the forums? You don't get to do things differently just because you have a big ego.

You're kidding, right?? You've been around here for so long that I'd just assume you'd be in the "know", and probably have one or two yourself. I need to get one eventually, but they're some serious cash & there are other piece of equipment I still need to get ... especially since if I've ever got a lens flare/light issue, I can just use some gaffer tape & black cards/paper for a quick fix.

And before people think im going on a rampage here.. when i get notified of a post that says "what the hell?" .. normally i would delete the entire post.. this time, I thought heck, i will give the kid a chance and correct it for him, let him know it doesnt fly.

but he doesnt like it.. and calls me names?
 
I have a feeling he'll come back, if for no other reason than to try & get in a final last word. Seemed kind of spiteful like that.
 
Aw, and here someone started the thread with a perfectly good question, and nobody bothered answering it properly. What does a mattebox do and how/why would you use them? Though I know what such a thing is for in principle, I would like a few details to this answer myself. Some pro opinions on the how's and why's and whatfor's. The best choices and the circumstances they're most needed.
