What Computer performance do i need for DVX100B

How powerful does your computer have to be to edit DVX100BE clips?

At the moment I got a

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad CPU
Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
2.40GHz, 4 Gig of RAM


Is this a powerfully enough? If not what do you recommend?

I am using a Apple iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 gHz 3 GB RAM. Runs slow as hell... A lot of my friends say that the graphics cards apple uses suck but I beg to differ. I am running CS4 and I have been told Adobe software uses all the memory. For my next computer, should I build a good computer for a lot less or get another mac? I decided I like CS4 a lot more than FCS. Sorry for stealing the thread!
 
You can build a machine for MUCH less with better specs, and the Windows version of PP CS4 uses the graphics card for playback acceleration. It would be a good move for CS4.
 
Max out the RAM to make the editing process easier, get an external hard drive to back up your work.

Don't Laugh!

Dell GX270 1.8ghz P4, Sony Vegas 8, 3 Gigs Ram, 250gig (IDE) internal HD, 2x 1 TB SATA external. Bought the CPU for $90.00 2 years ago. Would get rid of it, but it keeps running. Right beside it I have an XBOX 360 and TV to help with longer render times.

It has made me about $8700.00 and allowed me to get all my training done in the last 2 years.

well at the moment I’m currently using Canon HG21 AVCHD camera which kills the computer so I had to get a big computer upgrade just for it run normally. I’m not very impressed with these cameras and I have wanted a DVX for so long now and I’m well past the beginner’s stage. As a UK buyer where can I find the best deals? EBay is rubbish and never have anything and Amazon just wants to rob your pocket.

Oh yes... How much space does the Panasonic use for a 5 to 10 minuet video footage?
 
oh man, your more than qualified. you can probably edit some HD videos off that beast. right now i got a pentium 4 with 1gig of memory and 1tb of space and a 250gig scratch drive and it edits SD video just fine (HD not so much) running adobe premier pro.
