What computer for editing?

I am getting a new computer soon; I mainly will use it for graphic design and video editing. I currently use NeoScene, but am curious to see if my new cpu can handle native AVCHD.

I am getting a Dell xps9000. Quad-core i-7 920 processor, 12gb ram, 1.5 tb hd space. Hopefully that should handle it.

Have any of you had any success with native avchd editing? What system would you recommend?

I have a home built system with similar specs. Get a second fast HDD, and a good graphics card. You can edit native with Premiere Pro CS4 and with Edius Neo2 with the new booster pack in realtime.

I have used Edius for years, and have switched to Premiere Pro CS4 mostly due to the integration with After Effects, and Encore.

Encore is the best I've found for advanced motion menus and Blu-Ray.
