What color is your studio?

Just wondering what color your editing room / studio is? I'm looking to paint my new studio and was wondering what color works best for good atmosphere.

For a "good" atmosphere, that choiec will be up to you - I have seen a lot of different colors work well, but it was the accents, and little details that made it.

No if you are talking about using your studio for color correcting, you'll want to stay in the nuteral gray colors, and make sure that you monitor do not have any glare from a window on it.

You can also check out this site on color theory, it will help you figure out what colors mean, and how they make people feel:

I forgot to answer you question:

My studio is ocean blue, with white trim, and black accents - a very modern type style.

I have pastel blue and purple on opposite walls then I have a wall of pastel green, Its also very modern.
Lots of metals and finished wood.

Technically, it should be gray -- 18% gray to be precise.

Just this weekend we painted our house, including my work-area (which happens to be a corner of the living room). When it came to selecting the paint, I pushed for 18% gray (which I would mix myself to make sure it was done proper), but the wife wouldn't have it.

**sigh**

We settled for a very light beige.

As for atmosphere, I prefer dark red (the colour of dried blood) with flat-black trim, but I also work listening to Uzbek death-metal at extreme volumes...

There is a SMPTE recommended practice for viewing environments, especially for color correction. It is the SMPTE RP 166-1995. Not only is it about color, but lighting levels, color temperatures, etc.

Okay - and speaking of light levels. What kind of lights are people using in their suites?

My "suite" (AKA my bedroom) is pretty crappy ergonomics and lighting wise. But, I painted the wall directly behind my screens a dark greyish blue, and the rest of the walls white. I don't have all of my lights the way I want yet, but what I plan to do is put dimmable track lights on the cieling, and when I am editing, I will edit in a mostly dark room with light coming from straight above. We'll see how it works....I still have alot of work to go before I get there though.....
