What Class SDHC Card to get?

Ok, idk why i didn't think about this sooner.

The HMC-40 Says it will record in PH Mode an average 21Mbps/24Mbps.

But I have a Class 6 SDHC card, so that only record 6Mbps.

Should I be getting a Class 10 SDHC card to get better quality video since the card will be able to write at least 10Mbps?

And why does the HMC-40 record 24Mbps if there isn't an SDHC card to even capture that fast?

If I'm completely wrong about all of this please let me know. This idea just hit me today and I'm not sure if it makes sense or not or if it's even right. But if I am right, I want to know, so I don't go out and buy a class 10 SDHC card and realize it was pointless

Don't worry, you're getting mixed up between bits and bytes. PH mode is up to 24 megaBITS and a Class 6 card will do 6 megaBYTES (i.e. about 48 megaBITS).

So as Grant rightly says Class 4 (which does 4 megaBYTES, or about 32 megaBITS) is perfectly fine for anything you want to do with the HMC40. High speed cards just help you dump the footage onto a computer quicker.

Hope that clears it up!

Andy.

Yes! That clears things up a lot! i was about to reply saying 'ooook so WHY will Class 4 work just fine?'

all i really wanted was an explanation, not just an answer that doesn't help me understand anything

thanks!! i feel like an idiot now overlooking 24Mbps and thinking it was 24MBps
