I finally starting shooting footage this weekend at the US Open in NJ. And the damn camera gave me a red X in the corner I didnt know it was at first, till a friend asked if I had a cleaning to use on his FX7. I told him no since I barely used the camera since I got it. But a light bulb in my head went off, I decided to check my footage, and yep I was getting drop like the heads were dirty. So I just put the camera continued shooting stills for the rest of the event. Today I wnet out and bought a cheap dv cam to use a deck and the weird thing the footage played back fine no dropouts or nothing. I even bought a cleaning cassette just in case I needed it. What gives, I just realized why I stop shooting videos with tapes a few years and go get a card-based camera instead. The option I have is to keep the camera and spend another $1,000 and get a DTE deck, but then I wont have a simple setup anymore...
What should I do?
Keep the camera and deal with it.
Or.
Sell it and a hard drive camera with less controls.
Help.
