What Cameras Are Used For Suvivorman?

I'm about to make an assertion to a friend of mine that the picture quality of my HVX200 exceeds the quality of the little camcorders that are used for the reality/adventure series 'SUVIVORMAN'.
Does anyone know what kind of cameras are used on this show? I feel confident that the HVX200 is a better camera but I want some solid facts to back it up.
So straight up, what cameras are used for the series 'SUVIVORMAN'?
Thanks, it's a gentleman's bet that cost where it really hurts....

According to the DV magazine article, his equipment is two Sony HVR-Z1Us, a Sony HDR-HC3, a Sony DCR-HC96, and a Viosport Adventure Cam H20. Does that help?

Oh, and while the HVX might have a better image, that is only in well lit situations. The Sony's have infared, something I don't think your HVX has. This means you would also have to pack lights into the wilderness, as well as the 5 cams and batteries... and a wall socket to plug them into ;)

The HVX200 is quite capable of capturing a high quality image with just one candlelite and is very vivid with a campfire setting. Those infrared visuals are never more than 3% of the footage he shoots and aren't that interesting because of the limited light that the camera can gather. It never sees anything more than 5 feet away. I'll refer you to Barry Green's posts on the Sony cameras mentioned. I would say that the only thing to discount the HVX200 is it's size, a little akward, but certainly rugged enough to endure the variety of environments and produce a higher quality production in more extreme conditions via no moving parts for recording an image.
But thanks for the info on the cameras he uses. I feel validated in my assertion now.

IF the HVX is capable of getting low light/no light images, then the only detractor would be larger size and weight. Les Stroud has to pack all his gear into the wild, and that extra weight could mean a lot in the end. But solid state would likely be a plus, but, he would have to also either pack along an equal number of p2 cards as tapes, because it wouldn't be practical to also pack a laptop or p2 store. He takes 45 tapes with him, and that would be a small fortune in p2... IF he could find that many.

If you feel the production has made an error in choosing their equipment, perhaps you should contact and enlighten them.
