what camera bag do you use?

just curious what all you folks use to protect your camera?

i am from the Portabrace school of thought and was going to go that route (easy of use for carry on travel)

but i just got curious about what other options there were out there. i know a pelican would be cool... but i hate pick-n-pluck...

anyway anyone have any thoughts?

Type portabrace, pelican and kata into the search field and you'll see dozens of posts on both bags among others.

Right now I have the Pelican 1510 for a hard case. I can fit the camera, the AC power supply, 4 batteries, 4 P2 cards, 4 mini-DVs, the remote, an SD card, and some dissecant. Works well.

However I am looking to also buy the ogio backpack for times when I am out in the woods or out shooting. The problem I have with the ogio is that it has a very ugly looking design inside the bag. Something like 'SkateFairy' written all over the inside. Looks unprofessional.

have you seen the cinebags backpack?

looks pretty cool

is the 1510 pelican the "carry on" size?

did you have to mount the camera on its side?

i would love to see a pic of how you have that laid out... i was looking at that case but couldnt figure out how to get everything in it.

I love my Kata bag. I use a DVX that's stored in a 1510 a bunch and while it is a nice case, unless you are doing serious travel I don't know why a soft case wouldn't work. I have traveled all over with my Kata.

i use the cinebags backpack. it's easy to carry and has worked out quite nicely. prefer it to a shoulder strap. gonna take it to India next month.

They're all good choices. But for some reason PortaBrace makes me feel good. They're made in Vermont by well paid workers with health insurance and other benefits. As are Courierware messenger bags (also Vermont) and Tom Bihn bags (Washington State).

fwiw, this kind of stuff means something to me....a lot of bags are made in China or Vietnam for profit (labor) reasons only. Why not pay top wages for both Vermonters and Vietnamese?
