What BNC Cable for 4K RAW

I'm using the Odyssey 7Q with the FS700. What BNC cable are you guys using for it? I'm getting a lot of dropped frames and purple/green lines as well as the very top seems to be lagging a bit behind the rest of the image. Basically screen tearing up top. :embarasse

Thanks guys!

I'm using a Canare HD-SDI BNC that I purchased from B&H and only experiencing a VERY occasional purple line and minimal image tearing. I was led to believe these issues would be fixed with the next firmware update, so I don't think it's my cable causing these issues.

I haven't experienced any dropped frames with my setup so far.

I'm using Cinecoil 3G cables (which ain't too cheap!). No dropped lines/frames yet - the but O7Q is very temperamental about recognising the 240fps 2K signal from the FS700. Sometimes it takes a few minutes of blinking on and off before I can start recording, but when I do there's no problems.

I'm not sure if that is a cable issue or an odd firmware glitch.

Oh and the screen tearing is a firmware thing - it's not in the recorded image. As is that slight flickering (which is really distracting in SSM as you worry it's the lights - in case you're wondering, just check the waveform - if that's jumping, it's the lights. If it's not, it's just the screen).

Both are getting fixed in the next firmware...

OK I'm hoping it is the firmware and I don't have to return it again. Dropping frames every 2 seconds just kills it.

To my knowledge, dropping frames is not a firmware issue. I haven't heard anyone else bring up that issue. I don't think a firmware update will solve your issue. You might need to try a different BNC cable to see if that's the issue.

Hmmm…. that's really strange. I shot an entire day of nothing but 240fps 2K RAW and no problems at all. It worked perfectly and I was using the Canare cables and some high quality elbows (same ones that Olof sells at Westside AV). These cables and elbows have worked perfectly so far, no hitches.

Here's the cables I used

I ordered the cable from film tools. Hopefully when it comes in it works. Hopefully the firmware comes soon so this problem doesn't persist. I'm getting asked about it a LOT now for rentals and I keep saying it can't go out yet.

Thanks, guys!
