For those of you who are still standard def....
What are you waiting for to switch to HD...???

My Wedding videos are looking F@#$in awesome....
My customers are raving about me and business is being generated without me even advertising... I have raised my prices and customers see why and don't bargin with me. No one leaves my studio without signing and I don't hafto push... Justy play the demo...

Did I mention my work looks F@$% awesome...
I can't beleive what these new prosumer cams can do...
I can't even look at my old SD work anymore.

I was handing my weddings to customers in WMVHD format with the master HDV tapes for future upgrrade to BLuray or HD dvd(at a price) and now HD burners are available..So what is the holdup for you...? Do you not want to make money? Do you not want to produce amzing product? Do you not want to get as close to flim as possible for a small investment?

Or is it I like the old vinyl low ress look of SD culture..

Sell the SD cams and get with the times and try HD.

Hd is looking so much digital. much more than dvx100. i m waiting for more latitude, not more resolution. and i prefer my movies looking like russians movies from the 70s than looking like a brazilian soap. my hd cam is in its case waiting to learn "organic feeling".

i think it depends on where u live cuz where i live ppl dont wanna pay more than 2-3 hundred for a wedding.

I don't shoot weddings either. As a documentary filmmaker, story is my guide. If HD is the best way to tell the story, fine. But, for me, it's more than just about pretty pictures.

Thats actually the exact reason why I dont buy HD. I love the look of SD, HD is too processed, too digital, and too much of a fallacy in my opinion. Thanx for the sales pitch though,

?????? You're joking right? 300 bucks? Why not just do the work pro boner? (I know what I said)

As for the issue at hand (HD), I'm gonna hold onto my DVX till they pry it from my cold, dead hands, not unlike some such spokesperson for the NRA.

i just shoot everything with a fisher price pixelvision, then i use the dvx as just a deck to run it through and then i uprez it to hd...my customers love how sharp and crisp the image is, just like a varicam.

Haha. My answer is, the output for HD isn't there yet. The majority of people are stil watching on an SD set. Once that market opens up, and worthwhile solutions become available, I'll consider the upgrade.

Not true (if your in Corpus, that is).

I'm in Dallas, I get calls from corpus at least once a month, and my lowest wedding starts at $1500.

Your not advertising the right places, my friend.

I know you're obviously joking, but I really do want one of those. If anything, it would be an interesting collector's item.

To quote Zims post

I keep getting close to buying the DVX100 and this pushes me closer. I'm sure HD will be the norm someday but it's going to take some time. From FreshHDV:

HD-DVD and Blu-ray sales are not as good as analysts had hoped, and retailers are not happy with the market to date. Technical issues and confusion over the competing formats are a few of the reasons cited for the weak market response.
"Neither format is selling well or at the level I had expected. I had expected early adopters to step up and other retailers have had the same experience," said Bjorn Dybdahl, president of San Antonio, Texas-based specialty store Bjorn's.

"...Blu-ray has faced complaints of sub-par picture quality on discs, talk of component shortages for players and other technical issues..."

"...along comes the first Blu-ray player from Samsung and that's when my expectations were hurt. When we put the disc in, all the sales people looked around and said it doesn't look much better than a standard DVD..."
Here's the biggest reason why I believe the hi-def DVD formats are faltering...they offer consumers no compelling reason to upgrade. I'll elaborate:

*There is no increased convenience or capability.
Some of the reasons consumers embraced the DVD format over VHS were increased capacity, the convenience of chaptering, and no rewinding.

*The quality difference is not THAT MUCH better than SD DVDs.
Yes, you can see it. But it is an incremental upgrade at best, and the average consumer (that is content with cable TV or highly-compressed satellite MPEG-2 streams) does not see the value in the High-Definition upgrade.

We previously reported on the potential blue diode shortages that may limit player availability in the immediate future.

Ummm wait a sec... let me check my pockets... I do have 10 grand burning a hole in my pocket! I knew it wasnt just the money

I know this thread is a big joke and all. But for some reason sonisfear's post rubbed the wrong way. Its really pissin me off. Its like those annoying emails/pop-ups that tell me I have a small unit and theres a miracle pill to make it bigger.
