What are you listening to now ?

these are for you, gord:

...

Thank you my man. I appreciate it.

To make a long story short, I think if people, like myself, listen to everything, you begin to hear a common connection across cultures.
It's a bit like they are all playing the same music but changing it up a bit. Which I think goes back to the original roots of music, or, if you like, the origins of modern humans, which I believe originated in Africa. That's not intended as a debate so let's not go there.

I'm just saying, to me, I hear something common in all music, and I think it goes back to Africa. But maybe that's another discussion for another forum.

I can hear cross similarities in all of this cultural music. Can't you? It's cool. To me anyways. They way everything is related to each other.

Anyways, feel free to post more. I'll look forward to it, listen to it and enjoy it.

Thanks, cause I love music.

Yeah, that's my thoughts. And to quote in words I could never express myself...

As neither the enjoyment nor the capacity of producing musical notes are faculties of the least direct use to man in reference to his ordinary habits of life, they must be ranked amongst the most mysterious with which he is endowed. They are present, though in a very rude and as it appears almost latent condition, in men of all races, even the most savage. . . . Whether or not the half-human progenitors of man possessed, like the before-mentioned gibbon, the capacity of producing, and no doubt of appreciating, musical notes, we have every reason to believe that man possessed these faculties at a very remote period, for singing and music are extremely ancient arts.
—Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex (1871)

But I suppose we have to watch not to get into a political war here. I'm 100% confident there's a number of people who would disagree.
And this isn't the place for this discussion. I hope I didn't unintentionally start something. That's the furthest thing from my imagination.

Music is a natural phenomenon to mankind; watch the 1 year old toddler dance when he hears a beat ...

Is it the bass of the heartbeat in the womb ? Is it the mathematical relationship of musical notes (see classical scales) that are in a non dissonant pattern ? Music is meditative and a full release of our senses.

It strikes me odd people who are not into music or have zero passion for it.

Some people are weird, John. Had a girlfriend who didn't like fiction...because it wasn't real. Had zero appreciation for what I want to be when I grow up.

Luckily, she got drunk one night and slept with an Australian, so I didn't wind up being more boring than I already am.

No, I'm not kidding.

Really.

I especially like the box of Entenmann's. But that's probably only cool to a NJ boy. :)
