What are you doing for a bag/case?

This seems like it's probably come up before, but I had trouble finding a thread, so maybe someone can point me in the direction of an existing one, but if not...

I'm new to the DSLR game, have picked up a 7d and a couple of lenses, probably with a few more to come, and ultimately could add a few other accessories (Z-Finder, etc.) What kinds of bags or cases are people using? Is there something that's provides a nice amount of room (the case I have now just fits the camera with 1 additional lens and nothing else) but is still manageable as a "walk-around" bag?

There is a kind of heirachy ?

gotta fly, money no objsect - pelicases

working from a car / van - I use reallyuseful plastic boxes

like pelis but 1/10th price and stack

personally I use billingham bags for actual walkaround, tall and high bags are good because stuff doesnt fall out when you run with the bag open

billi bags put weight on one shoulder so for more trecking I would use a rucksack like thinktank or lowepro

I dont like rucksack so much because you need to take it off to get at your gear

sometimes I have done big hikes with my billingham in a camping rucksack

uber light..

get a big lowepro lens pouch and work with two lenses one on the camera, one in the pouch on your belt

and keep a plastic bag at the bottom of the pouch to protect the cam in a downpour

Hand lugguage only ? Thinktank are the masters at that and wheels are great for the urban landscape

My billi in use..

All my bags have a bin liner or two inside for downpours or erratic RIB drivers

I used a Domke F-3X. I can get my 5d w/lens, spare lens, z-finder, zoom h4n, edirol r-44, couple of wireless mics (rec+trans's) and more in there. Small bag too!

Look at the Pelican 1510 with the foam inserts. It's the right size for airline restrictions, and I've currently got my 7D, my 16-35mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, a Glidecam HD-2000 and a pile of accessories in there. Snug and secure. A bit heavy, but it can roll. Highly recommended.

Pelis have their place but are rubbish for walkaround

you have to put them down when you are shooting - someone can run off with it

I vote for a bag - billingham domke whatever

and maybe a pelicase for transporting that bag in

chase jarvis has a blog on it somewhere..
