Hi, everyone

ok I did some testing shot on a building, when I capture in fcp the footage has some swarm shiny ripple in it... what is it that cause this disease and what what are this ripple, shiny, particles in my dvx stock footage

thanks

You can export a short (:30 or less) clip and upload it to Vimeo or YouTube, then post a link here.

It's really hard for us to tell what's going on without actually seeing the artifacting.

my guess (without seeing the footage) is that it is from thin lines very close to each other (like on the side of a building) and the DVX doesn't have enough resolution to resolve the image well.

this happens a lot, you either need more resolution or a different subject.

so, my only option is not to shoot stuff like this then?

You could perhaps slightly mitigate the effect by some sort of selective filtering, that is 'blur' in that specific region, if the camera was locked down. If it was moving, perhaps something like After Effects' 'tracking', with masking and filtering but if the movement is excessive...well, just remember that for the future and 'dont do that'...

yia,

I've used the DVX100 in many situations. Two techniques that have worked well for me:

1. Put a hard photography filter (glass or plastic) in front of the DVX lens. Look for one called "SoftFX"
2. Adjust the DVX100's Detail Frequency setting in the cameras menu. The fine adjustments made here will help.

j1clark's comment is good too, if you have access to that software.

Best,

this one was shot by 24p at normal shutter speed.... Any way I don't really need this footage but I just want to know how I can prevent myself from this in the future

thanks everyone

yeah adjust the detail level to lower might help

Set your line detail to thick for cases like this though.

Then you can try a lower detail level and thick line detail together too.
