what are these lines ? HELP!!!

Hi, I have some questions that I hope can be answered.

Problem 1: Im new to my DVX and yesterday I shot some test video(24P) and when I saved it to my computer via firewire, when I watch it there are some horizontal "lines" mostly around the egdes. How do I get rid of these, or what is causing it?

Problem 2: I imported the footage into Premeire Pro and ran Magic Bullets "Editor" plugin on it and exported it as an avi to the desktop. When I viewed the avi after the export, it played very choppy, meaning some parts of the video looked like they didnt even export. It kind of looked like video with a slow connection on the internet. You see 2 seconds and it pauses for 4 seconds, and then it jumps to seven seconds...any ideas or advice? THanks!

Problem 1: Your going to have to post a screen grab before anybody can succesfully diagnose your problem. Are you sure it's not the overscan lines shown by premiere pro?

Problem 2: Did you export your file as an uncompressed AVI. If so the file would be increadably large and hard for most computers to play back, resulting in choppy playback like you were explaining.

That looks like a blended frame of 3:2 24P footage...It doesn't look like you've removed the pulldown, but are seeing interlaced video on a progressive monitor...

Re: what are these lines ? HELP!!!

What you are seeing there is what is know as a jutter or jitter frame. When you shoot 24p and edit with premiere pro 1.0 it does not remove this frame and is therefore a mixed (interlaced) frame that is compressed into one. This will be most present in panning shots like you are showing here. It does look like you have some other issue as the chair has some sort of shifted thick line, most prevelent on the right hand side of the back of the chair.
What were your camera settings, ie straight F5 or F6, and what are your premiere pro settings?
