What are the firewire settings for DVRACK and HD Monitor Pro?

Is there any special way you need to have the firewire settings in the HVX for live recording to work? I read the manual but am still confused.
 
the camera has to be in the "1394 Device" mode. page 115 of the manual. you also cannot use any of the "native" modes, such as 24pn. these are not transmitted out the firewire.
