GH2 What are the "currently" reliable class-10 SD Memory Cards?

I shoot a GH2 w/Flowmotion 2.2 and have always successfully used SanDisk "Extreme" class-10 cards that say 30MB/s on them. I have had a few software freezes where you have to pull the battery out of the camera to un-freeze it, but the camera never reported "write speed" errors of any kind.

I recently went to buy 2 more of these and they seem to have been replaced with what SanDisk now calls the "Ulta PLUS" class-10 card which says 40MB/s on it - and I'm now getting VERY frequent Write speed error messages that pop up and stop the recording. On both of them.

At 40MB/s this card "should" be even better than the old Extremes... so do you think I got some from a bad batch? Or is this "Ultra PLUS" a crappier new cheap line of cards?

I know the Extreme "Pro" cards are the best from SanDisk, but I really can't afford those.

Did I miss something?

~Thanks!

The two I use with the most demanding patchs around (Moon Trial 7 and 8) are below. I've had one write error in several thousand clips.

I did recently try a Transend because it's cheaper, but it failed miserably even at a lowly 50 Mb/s. I'd recommend against this card:

been using the transcend 600x 128gb card that writes at 60MB/s and it has not failed. to be safe, get anything that writes over 60MB/s and you should be ok. I also have those U3 cards as well, they are all the same write speed.

All of the firmware "patches" on the GH2 place greater "stress" on the media than "stock" firmware does. Although I saw a lot of posts indicating that with the more conservative patches like Flowmotion 2.02 and Sanity 5 the 30Mbps Class (10) media was working pretty well, I began purchasing the Extreme Pro 95Mbps both to hopefully insure I never had the "write speed" errors and maybe even have a bit of "future-proofing" too.

Those are UHS 1 media and now with the GH4 we seem to be in the UHS 3 arena. So far I've been using the same SanDisk Extreme Pro cards with my GH4 and seem to be getting along OK so far.

Judging from the prices on those "Ultra Plus" cards I would guess they are an economy version and since you are using "patches" that somewhat "soup up" the bitrate when needed you might be better served "making yourself afford" the Extreme Pro media.

I've been using the Samsung Pro line (the new one) on the GH3 and it's been great so far. They're not expensive too!

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I got suckered. The "Ultra PLUS" says 40MB/s on it, but it's WRITE speed is only 10MB/s!!! Finally found that out!

I also found that the new "Extreme Plus" cards will write at 60MB/s for much less $$ than the "Extreme PRO" at 95MB/s.
The "Extreme" cards I had been using are writing at 30MB/s and that worked fine so these "Extreme PLUS" cards should be great.

I totally get what you mean Bruce about "forcing" myself to afford the best cards.
