I noticed that one too. Seems like the LCD is not calibrated.
What exactly you changed and in what part of the menu it is?

Yeah I always use +1 for exposure.
 
I'll look for the setting when I get home as I don't remember offhand. I don't think it was intuitive though, it wasn't labeled like you think it would be labeled and I found it by accident one day.

I cant understand how anyone would have an issue with any of those sample clips. They are clean clean clean.
 
Thanks for all the help everyone. I think I'm finally getting my head around this thing, so now I'm just gonna keep shooting! Glad to know that my issues were user error!
 
yeah i tried my best to pixel-peep the last one, can't see a single shred of banding. but you'll rarely see any on such well lit outdoor footage. i think only in contrasty footage with underexposed areas will there be a lot of banding because it seems the sensor is trying to bring the underexposed area up to par with the correctly exposed area (could this be my Intelligent Exposure at work?)
