What am I doing wrong? HD delivery out of FCP 7

I have a project that is 57 minutes long, in a FCP 7 time line as a ProRes 422 project, 1920X1080, 48K 16 bit audio. It was shot on a FS 100. I need to export it out to a QT for delivery, via a single layer data DVD. What are the best settings to do this? I have tried H.264, at 1920X1080, 24fps, best quality, and it is still coming up as a file that is over 5GBs. How do I export to QT and control the final file size?

As a secondary question. What is the best way to deliver HD content to an audio post house and to the end user, for viewing a computer? With a project like this, what recommendations are there for delivery for web streaming? How about compression for DVD authoring?

This is the longest HD project I have done and putting it together for delivery is kicking my butt. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Whoever you're sending it to should know better then to ask you to put an hour long HD product on a single layer DVD. There's not a lot of codecs that could provide you with that and none of them are proper for delivery to my knowledge. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what they need the file for? Either way they aren't giving you a lot of space to work with to deliver a good file.

First up to echo Kyle - not going to happen. In cases such as this I usually provide the HD QT via a HDD.

David, for Audio I usually export an OMF from within FCP - make sure to check the options in the pop up. I then usually export a preview vid version with matching TC.

The last two. Once you have your audio etc done (assuming its not a 5.1 or above mix), export via FILE>EXPORT>QT MOVIE on the options leave as current settings. Open the resulting file with compressor and for DVD choose the best quality 90 minute DVD option (this is the best option for a SD DVD). And then for webstreaming, well that depends on a number of things - BUT, lets say your placing it on youtube - theres already a preset in compressor that gives pretty good results.

Thanks Noel. Yeah, that helps out. Don't know about the OMF though. My audio guy who is going to do the mix is out of town for a while , but I when through and exported them out just in case. Thanks for the responses.
