What accesories I need to get started?

So I am buying my hmc-150 in a couple of months but I am still deciding what accessories I need for it.

I have all of the stuff from my old camcorder as in mic/xlr cables, tripods, etc.

I am talking hmc-150, specific accesories.

Obviously I am going to need a memory card. I am shooting shorts and features with this so I am thinking I will need a 32gb, probably class 6. Any reccomendations of what brand/ where to get it? also should I get an additional memory card? a 16gb? or do you guys think I will need two 32gb cards?

Next, batteries. How long does the stock battery last at highest quality. Should I get an additional battery? is the "panasonic" name brand really worth it? also do I need any additional chargers?

i guess that is it for now. I also need to buy an adapter that allows me to use my 35mm adapter with it, but i already know what I need.

are there any other accesories I will need right off the bat?

I just got one and the accesories I got were:

oktava mk012
rode blimp with boompole
manfrotto 420b combi stand
kata backpack
pny 8gb card, 2 16gb kingstons
headphones (sony 7605s?)
bogen tripod

I can list some more specific model numbers when I go home. I would say if you have mics and tripods you're off to a good start. Newegg is where I got my cards, plus the free one from Panny is coming. The batteries, according to Spec Comm, are back ordered but will be in stock in the middle of this month. The stock battery gives me probably an hour and a half using the lcd conservatively.

I'm guessing you are ok with your editing setup, but you want a pretty good cpu to edit.

There are a bunch of posts on memory cards, tripods, mics, batteries... Do any seraching?

id say an hvc freindly editor!! the new codect sorta uses new hardwares and newer than new
nle's ,definatly make sure you can edit! most standerd acceries are the same tripods mics and such.its avc that has themost demanding tech invovled! i invested a bit into my computer to shoot with the dvx100a and sorta watched dvc pro get shuffled around for new avc a bit.
theres always converters if you go pc but its a quiktime native codect so apple is supposed to be freindly.im pc so ill stick to dvc pro and iframe. no avc here yet becouse of this!!

AVCHD is not a Quicktime native, if you edit on an apple system you have to "Transcode" to a Native Quicktime file first, and then do your editting... so apple it's friendly and not so power hungry, but you have to trade with space (files are bigger than Native AVCHD)

are you sure?
maybe the jvc version has me confused?
anyways my capture card rt.x2 is not avc freindly and is more p2 and dvc pro
i thought avc was quiktime native? err i just order a hpz600 15 minutes ago and waiting to edit dvc pro dvx100 films and more~>trailer for latest

i have read soem about avc being proccesor intensive ?
mike d.?

h264 is an apple product even if evrey one uses it!!! just check your nle to be sure your ready to edit.
eccelorator cards and propriatery hardware need soem tweeking or converting to use with special effect cards .these are add on cards for more serious work! im just not h264 savy but my ipod is!! duoble check!

To work with the files on a Mac, you need to transcode to AIC (apple intermediate codec) or ProRes (In ProRes you have Proxy, LT, 422, HQ)... You're right AVCHD is very processor intensive, witch is why once you transcode to something else, then it becomes really easy to work on!

H.264 it's no exactly the same as AVCHD, or AVCCAM as panasonic labels it's version... and yes the JVC camera is FCP/Apple friendly, too bad is not as good of a built as the HMC150 (i read many bad reviews on the JVC 100 model)
