ok I have been searching everywhere and I cannot find info on the tapes for the 100b what I need to know is two things, one, is there really a difference if you record on the regular panasonic consumer tape or the pq tapes or the
mq tapes? my other question is do you loose quality if you keep on recording over the same tape? thanks guys

There is no quality difference -- the recordings are digital, either a 0 is a 0 and a 1 is a 1, or it isn't. When it isn't, you're unable to read the frame, resulting in a dropout.

The advantage of high-end tapes is that they offer higher signal-to-noise ratios, resulting in fewer dropouts.

No quality difference other than the dropouts? Sounds like a difference in quality to me. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) I hear ya though- same quality image when not shitting the bed. Go with MQ from B&H- decent pricing.

OK, let me rephrase that -- if the data is recorded on tape correctly and can be read back, then there is no difference in the visual representation between the cheapest MiniDV tape found in a WalMart checkout line and a Master Quality tape that costs $20.
