What a nightmare!

My attempt to get my Component video cable replaced:

1) Visit Service Center in LA, they tell me they can't help me
2) Call Service Center, they give me a number to call
3) Call the number, Panasonic Broadcast Technical Support line, 3 times, each time disconnected while listening to the menu in the same spot
4) Call parts dept. number listed in menu, they give me a different number to call
5) Call new number, Warrantee Dept., ask for customer service as directed. Customer service transfers me to someone else
6) Person confirms that my camera is under warrantee, transfers me to the parts dept.
7) After holding, I am disconnected.
8) Attempt to call back, but the automated A.I. robot that answers cannot connect me to the same dept. I call back 2 more times.
9) The dept. I need is now closed. They tell me to call back during business hours, even though I am calling during their listed business hours.
10) Call the same number back, ask the A.I. robot for warrantee help, she connects me to the Panasonic Broadcast Technical Support line...disconnected

This took an hour and got me nowhere.

Any help would be appreciated. Jan, can you point me in the right direction?

Dude, this is not an HVX nightmare but can happen with any product. Google Component cables and start there. All the time wasted complaining here could have landed you one by now.

But it's the principle!

I never said this was an "HVX nightmare." Dealing with Panasonic on the phone for me was a nightmare.

I have Googled component cables. I know where I can buy new ones. But I don't want to buy a new one, I want mine replaced under warrantee.

I had similar problem with Panny parts. The same cable is used on the JVD HDV cameras and can be found on their web site. If you can't find it, email me and I'll look up the url.

IF IT WAS a lens or the camera itself I could see how its a nightmare. But its just a component cable. Go to Best Buy and buy one for 10 dollars. Nightmare Over

Actually, its not a regular component cable. It's a D4 to component cable, and those are expensive and hard to find. I would have contacted Panasonic for a replacement as well. After all, what's the point of buying from an authorized dealer and getting the USA warranty if you're not going to use it when something goes wrong?
