What a bad day...

Well my day is sucking pretty hard right now.

I quit my cushy, well-paying job to do videography full-time. And what do I do within 2 weeks? Scratch my filter (thanks microfiber cloth!) and probably my lens too!

Awesome! :furious3:

The filter is definetely screwed. I used the microfiber cloth. I did it how people told me to. I didn't press too hard. And there are tons of scratches all over it (you can definetely see it in the footage).

As for the DVX lens... Most likely the same thing. Same cloth. I haven't seen anything in the footage but I see something on the lens itself that isn't dust and sure looks like a scratch.

And I don't have $1800 to replace the lens.

It's even better when people tell me that it's obviously user error even though I used it how it was supposed to be used. Real awesome.

Now I have a $3500 paperweight. I was supposed to be using it to make money... That's not going to happen.

So yeah... Bad day... I'm in the worst possible mood ever. What about you guys?

If you can't see anything in the footage when the filter is off, I wouldn't sweat it yet. Get another filter and get back to dazzling people.

I guess I'm just getting more and more pissed because I keep hearing people say "I've never heard of anyone doing that before duder" --- Am I just completely retarded or something?

well if it is seriously ****ed then take it apart and see if you can fix that clunking sound. you can make a lot of $$$ fixing that for people

just trying to cheer ya up

i have 2 pages of a ten-page final done...and i have to turn it in and present it tomorrow...and i'm screwing around on here...wtf am i doing????

don't stress gary - if you can't see it on the footage its not a scratch, right? and if its "not a scratch" you could always sell the sucker on ebay, eat a couple hundred bucks, and get a new one....damn i'm a bastard huh?

anyways, congratulations on quitting your job...the real world sucks

I took another look... There's something new on the lens at the moment. It almost looks like a piece of glitter (it's not though) or sliver of metal. Not sure what it is. It doesn't budge with air... Looks like it's stuck. I'm not touching it. Just wondering what it could be... Seriously, this day gets worse and worse.

Edit: So how should I go about removing something like that from the lens?

jeez man...maybe you should take that sucker to a camera shop...

also, just from what i've read on here i'd steer clear of using canned air on it...

i'm sorry you gotta deal with this man...i too know the anxiety of playing with a $3500 toy while trying to learn about it at the same time...you'll figure it out tho...

I feel for you, Gary. It's been a tough month...:(

Moisten your finger slightly and see if that picks it up...that's what I'd do...VERY lightly.

Actually, I use compressed air to dust off my camera like twice a week, and it's runnin' awesome with 400+ hours on it :)
