Whale Rider

To add, In 2002, at the age of 13, Keisha Castle-Hughes became the youngest person in history to receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance in Whale Rider.

Great film. Perfect in every way. And if someone doesn't get choked up when she's giving her speech at the school show then they're not human.

And at 16, she became the youngest person nominated for an Oscar to get pregnant...All jokes aside, this is an excellent movie, a prime example of a locally made independent film that manages to be accessible to anyone. And the scene where Keisha gives that speech near the end will reduce anyone but the hardest of hearts to emotional jello. It's the scene that got her the nomination.

One of my favorite films. Hughes performance is of course, fantastic. The scene where she leaves home near the beginning is one is incredibly touching and memorable. Its clearly been a few years since I've seen it, but I love it nonetheless.

I just got done watching this on netflix instant watch.... She should have won an oscar. She's got more depth in her pinkie than most people do in their whole body....

What a little gem of a film imo
