We've Been Lied To

i buy bottled water because it's more convenient to just grab a bottle out of the fridge. i also like the taste of aquafina.

I'm staring at this . . . trying to decipher the satirical and sardonic commentary that always accompanies your posts . . .

WHERE IS IT?!

:)

you're right and i'm pretty embarrassed that i left it out...almost as embarrassed as i felt last saturday when i wore a vick jersey into pet smart.

but that's beside the point. the real reason i support bottled water is that it accounts for 80% of the new waste in landfills. landfills are the perfect bird sanctuaries, and adding to the bird population is a cause i'm very dedicated to..

Well, I spend a bit of time dealing with water every day...

The best you can find is either RO (reverse osmosis) or distilled. Both processes remove volitile and ionic contaminants. To some extent they also remove bacterial and viral contaminants.

If the municipal supply is chlorinated it is usually bacteriologically ok. That still leaves room for contamination with hydrocarbons, pesticides, and other constituants, so the tap h2o needs some analysis before you can say it is ok.
The EPA requires municipal water sources to annually publish the analytical results of these studies. You can find them on line in most places.

All the rest of this bottled/piped discussion is a matter of "choice".

Sorry, but I just had to chime in....

Prefer reading about and making films...

We've got a culligan purifying hookup thing. Tastes quite good.

Thats disappointing that aquafina is just tap water. Certainly Fiji water isnt lying when they say its bottled at the source?

I think we're forgetting it's [the bottled water] still going through a fairly extensive filtering process. It's not like the water is coming straight out of the tap, and into the bottle.

Do you have info to support this? I'm not saying it's not true; I'm just curious. Not much mention on any labels of such a process....

some labels do list their filtration process and any added minerals. others just say where they were bottled. some list if they are from a spring or municipal source. basically, it varies by company.

Can't drink the tap water here so it's always bottled water for us.

Fortunately it's cheap. Then again so is the US dollar right now. :(
