We've Been Lied To

hey that's nothing. If you go to really expensive department stores in North America you can buy something called VOSS WATER (http://www.vosswater.com/). This is regular tap water from norway. If you live in Voss it's free and you can drink the same quality water straight out of your toilet.

Wow..... bottling a free product......... AWESOME.... I want in on that racket....

Free?
Not sure about you guys, but I get billed for water every month.
:)

Yeah, I know...not really the same thing.
(EDITED TO ADD)
Oh WAIT - apparently it's the EXACT same thing...tap water.

You think when they were building the 'Aqua Fina' plant the architect asked an executive at some point, "so why do you need 5,000 faucets in this room?"

Nice. Now that's what I call news. I'm glad I don't drink Aquafina or Dasani.

But I wonder how many other companies are doing this same thing.

Dudes - you're buying WATER IN A BOTTLE. It seems to me it's been well known that most of it is tap water for years. Even if it's the best, it's WATER IN A BOTTLE. When you buy juice from concentrate, you get the same stuff for less money, with concentrated juice thrown in for free! Outside of traveling to areas where the water supply is really iffy, I've never understood the need to pay outrageous amounts of money for WATER IN A BOTTLE (often a bottle which slowly leaches plastic decomposites and other industrial byproducts into the water). Put a decent filtering system on your home supply?

Well my product is different. To save space I'm selling dehydrated water. All you do is add water and voila, there is your original water! Its only a buck a bottle!!!

i buy bottled water because it's more convenient to just grab a bottle out of the fridge. i also like the taste of aquafina.

Agreed. Water from a bottle in the fridge is way colder and more refreshing than anything that comes out of my tap.

I buy bottled water because:

1. I grew up in Norway where the tap water is cleaner than bottled water. As a result I am incredibly spoiled and I think all chlorinated tap water tastes like pool water
2. the water in my building is murky and disgusting
3. no, there's no third reason

I do make sure I buy locally produced bottled water tho so it doesn't travel 5698329957 miles to get to my house. Ideally I would never buy water but the tap water here tastes like poison!

It can only either come from natural springs, or city water sources. If it doesn't say natural springs, it's automatically city water sources. I've known this for years. Where did you guys think it came from?

Well I take bottled water to my Karate classes, or if I go out somewhere, or whatever. Also, call me picky, but I hate the taste of water from the tap, at least when it's warm. I also hate Desani and Aquafina... which makes a lot of sense, since it's tap water.

I prefer Naya or Monclair. Looking it up now... yup, they're spring water. Guess my tongue knows the difference.

And when you buy it in bulk for cheap, then it becomes worth it. That's what we do at my house.

Jon Starr, you should know that about 80% of "new" refuse at waste dumps is now empty containers of bottled water

I don't think anybody's been lying to anybody, but if people are paying a lot of money to advertise something to you, well, you should always question it.

At my house, we have the purina water filters and take the filtered water, stick it in empty bottles of arrowhead and drink out of that, although to be honest i mostly drink beer ;)

I have a Britta filter that I bought about a year ago. It seems to make the water more palatable, so it must be working to some extent... and it's cheap per gallon. :)

I think we're forgetting it's [the bottled water] still going through a fairly extensive filtering process. It's not like the water is coming straight out of the tap, and into the bottle.

I think thats what you're paying for when buying bottled water, and that's fine with me. Dasani tastes roughly a thousand times better than the water trickling out of my kitchen faucet.

your paying for convienence. Like tommy said, an investment in a britta pitcher works great. I can see buying bottled water when you are out on a trip, but certainly not to just drink around the house.

Portability is the only reason I'd buy water. But my fridge swerves up cold, filtered water, so I don't have to.

On the other hand, I love carbonated water. Now that's water I'll buy.
