Westcott Flex Water-resistant, flexible LEDs w/CRI 95+

I recently bought two of these with barndoors. Not cheap, but great quality light in a sturdy aluminum housing. My only caution is that they're really not as powerful as I'd hoped. Not wimpy, just not as many foorcandles as I'd hoped. The bicolor version means that if you're shooting at either full tungsten or full daylight, you're only using half of the LEDs available in the fixture. That said, it will run for many, many hours on an AB Hytron 140 battery.

I'm having difficulty finding LEDs with CRI 95+ for an affordable price.
I saw demo version of the Flexlight last week at The RODE show product release event. Unrelated but Jem Schofield had a early version and it looks really great. Comes in 3200 and 5600. Very bright and the color looked very clean. Westcot is making several mounting options and frames for this. It's really going to be a new way of lighting and opens up all kinds of possibilities. It can work with batteries too.

I recently did a review of the Aputure Amaron HR672S. They cost $298 for a kit that includes a set of batteries for it, filters, remote and AC cable plus mounting hardware.

The HR672S model is a spot version. It's very bright and has a CRI 0f 95+ Check out the review. I'm impressed with the color. No green spike. Very clean 5500K I set the camera to it and it looks really great.

I have two and think they're great. The only issue I have is that the whole thing is plastic. No dedicated yolk for mounting to a stand. It has 1/4 20 and comes with a light post that screws on and a light stand adapter. It's kind of a pain to have to put it together every time you use it. Needs a good case to protect them and not have to break them down.

Other than that I think they are really nice. They claim it's output is equivalent to a 400 watt incandescent. I have used them shot through silk and it works well.

This looks pretty nice. Wonder how it compares to the Astra.

Those look like a nice deal. I'm gonna have to look into that further.

Thanks!

I was curious about these lights. At a max quality ISO on something like C100, what sort of an area could one light at night?

The BH website says they are 500w equiv but the Dracast website says 300w equiv for the same unit. I spoke with Dracast and apparently the BH info is a "misprint".
