Well, we didn't make it...

It is something we are aware of. It seems that our panels have a wider range of static sensitivity for the touchscreen than the spec indicated. Because of this we had the problem of some screens being crazy sensitive and others being not sensitive enough. We have an active mapping subroutine that is supposed to cpensate for changes in environmental static discharge, but sometimes it pushes the parameters out too far and the screen gets insensitive to touch. You're right that the shutdown is often where you'll notice the issue. That step is a narrower sensitivity range, because we wouldn't want people accidentally shutting down their recorder because the touchscreen was acting overly sensitive.

Part of the function of the F1 button is to reset the touchscreen, and this should rectify the situation. We are working to smooth this out.

Mitch, O7Q's RAW is amazing, takes FS700 to a whole new level, but the amount of data is massive! is there any chance we'll have a lighter RAW option?

I've been really happy with SlimRAW (developed by Mihail on these forums), it will losslessly compress those DNGs to half the size, even more in some cases. I've not seen any issues with these compressed files and use them as i used the full sized ones.

Worth checking out

cheers

I think ProRes4444 RGB, at recording rates of 330 Mbps, is quite competitive with DNG at a much lower datarate. Now, if enough people would start hounding C-D about this, we might get some response other than it's coming manana.

Hopefully we'll see a new road map soon. The Samsung SSD's have me super excited especially with the prices perpetually coming down on SSD's in general.

We are aware of his work.

Feel free to hound, but I don't think it will change much. We're getting close on this, but it is a lot of data to manage and we need to hit some very specific targets for certification. Like I said, getting close.

Any idea when we'll see DNxHD/DNxHR?
Getting closer. The big difference between DNx and ProRes is that DNx is fixed rate while ProRes is variable, so we have to alter our bit rate management a little.

I'll be flying to our main offices in a few weeks to go over some details face to face (and working on some fun new secret projects!). Once we get through that I think we'll be able to issue a new forecast of some kind. And don't be thinking that progress is waiting for that visit. It's just sometimes it's easiest to hash out details when you're in the same room.

why zebra option and focus peaking can't enable/use at the same time? i hope they can use at the same time so i didnt need to keep clicking/switching it while shooting, especially for event/wedding shooting kind need to be fast focusing and maintain correct exposure.

IMHO I'd prefer compressed DNGs, SlimRAW achieves around 135MB/s for 4K RAW, by my data rate calculator ProRes 4444 at 4K would be 165MB/s.

I'd take RAW over ProRes any day for capture. Not having white balance baked in makes for a much more flexible starting point, especially with highlight reconstruction.

I would tend to agree with you, Paul except for two things:
1-RAW requires debayering in post. For quick turn around, or for clients that want the debayered output immediately, RAW won't work.
2-SlimRAW is just another step in the post process workflow. If C-D incorporated it in their recording algorithm( Which isn't gonna happen) that would be fine, but, as it stands ProRes4444 is in their roadmap.

Good question. I'll check with the engineers on that one. If we can change that we will.

Also, please please let us have the option to disable the grayscale bar at the bottom of the screen when zebras are on. I cant fathom the reasoning to have it eating up the image.

The reason it's there is because the zebras are adjustable. The legend is there to let you know what the zebras represent, just like on the false color mode. I'll ask if we can make it turn off after a few seconds.

Loving the 7Q, and the 4 sec burst of 240fps in 1080p ProRes. I know 4K burst is in the works. But i'm trying to remember if we're expecting either a longer burst, or continuous 120 or 240 in ProRes ever. Any word or is it only the 2K RAW continuous for that?
