Well, we didn't make it...

Re LUTs, why can't one completely format a SSD incl the LUT folder? Would make sense not having to connect to the computer again, just to completely remove everything from a SSD.

I have trouble transferring ProRes-files with the CDProResTransfer to my computer (PC, MS Windows 8.1) since I upgraded it. The transfer starts and then remains at 0%. Has anyone else had this problem?

A completely different issue I've noticed is that the monitor on the Odyssey 7Q reacts a bit weird to some colours. I was shooting a product video today and noticed something I haven't noticed before. While shooting a print on a garment (see pictures) the center of the printed flowers was out of place (the red part) while the center turned dark. When viewing the files afterwards I noticed that the problem wasn't there, so this seems to be a monitoring issue.
The problem occured while shooting in HD 4:2:2 to HD ProRes mode (not in S-Log). I didn't have the time to see if it was visible with other settings.
The first picture shows how it's supposed to look. The second picture is a mock-up I made in Photoshop, just to show approximately how it looked on the monitor.

We have seen similar reports on the proRes tool and are looking into the issue. For now you can roll back to the previous version.

That monitoring issue is a trippy one and I don't know what to say about it. Please report it to cdsupport@convergent-design.com and we'll look into the issue.

FYI, REBUILD of the SSD is a rebuilding of the Directory system. It doesn't erase your files (except maybe your LUTs). It's there in case you do a Safe Eject that for some reason doesn't work. Do a REBUILD instead and then you can download your files.

We will publish a new forecast soon. Just got this release out the door. Yes, onion skinning is still in the plan.
New Forecast: Are we moving from SOON towards VERY SOON, soon? Firmware 2015.5 is out for two weeks now, new LUT-functions great improvement. Recording FS700 RAW -> ProRes 4K @ 50/60 fps is my last "missing big thing" on the wish list.

As I understand, this development is performed by a different engineering group. I don't want to chase always the same guy.

Sorry not to reply to this earlier. We have a couple of key benchmarks we need to hit that will allow us to forecast more accurately. I was hoping we could state something this week but we should have a much better sense of things next week.

Please note that while high speed Apple ProRes may be your last "missing big thing," the same is not necessarilly true for others.

Mitch - out of interest, with the recent updates, the menu system and overall UI is now pretty cluttered and a bit confusing at times for new users. Are you going to be looking at the UI again?

When recording 4K 100/120 -> PRORES HD/2K, does the image stutter/seem choppy on the live view of the odyssey 7q+? Playback is fine though.
On the other hand when recording in RAW, live view is perfectly smooth.

Is this normal?

I shot quite a lot of 4K 100 -> 2K ProRes and didn't see anything on recording. Are you doing 120fps or 100?

cheers
Paul

shooting with my a7s and 7q+ yesterday in 4k2hd mode, in playback there is some small square green dot on the video but it was fine when import into computer. It's a bug i think, never happened before update. I also realised it is quite buggy when using a7s compare to fs700 with the latest firmware, there are some problems. Tomorrow night i will be shooting with my a7s and 7Q+ again and see how it goes. Will take picture of those bug if it happen again and report back.

It is also my missing big thing too - and the reason I held out from buying the 7Q until 3 weeks ago - I would have waited longer but I wanted to take advantage of the free SSDs. So I am really keen for 4K 50p and 2K 200fps ProRes!!! Looking forward to it, plus the Samsung SSD support very much!!

We are ALWAYS looking at the UI and constantly thinking about adjustments & tweaks. Of course as we add functions it will have to get more and more busy. Can't have one without the other. But we are trying to clarify and simplify.

With a previous build we eliminated some of the stuff that was under the "*" (we call it GEAR) menu tab at the far left of the Upper Tool Bar. That's because all of those controls are replicated under the buttons across the rest of the Upper Tool Bar. But we received numerous requests to bring them back because people were used to using them, so now they're in there again. I personally much prefer to use the buttons, but that's me.

If you have any specific suggestions or requests let me know. Certainly we know that the LUT menus can appear quite daunting when they first pop up. There's some new "secret stuff" coming your way soon and the menu controls for them will again add more functions and therefore be more complicated, but we think it's pretty intuitive.

Please report any and all issues to cdsupport@convergent-design.com so that our engineers can track the issues and deal with them properly for future releases.

You do realize that you just asked for two distinct features, high speed Apple ProRes and Samsung SSD support? Neither of these are functions we just turn on, while we know we can accomplish them there is tons of coding and debugging required to make each of them happen.

Of course I realised what I said, and never assumed it was anything but a complex task - I can only admire the people that are technically able to accomplish such things within your organisation. I merely said I was looking forward to those two/three promised features, the promise of which tipped my recent decision to choose the 7Q+ over the Shogun. So far (since I purchased it 3 weeks ago) overall I'm really liking the Odyssey.

Please don't take it personally -- I should have put a smiley face at the end of that post.

We're working to get as much done as quickly as possible at the highest quality. Glad that you are happy with the product and we will make it even better ASAP.

Yes, sorry Mitch, typing responses on forums often doesn't convey true intent behind the message, but thanks to you and your team for all your work on the Odyssey in general.

Just one thing, I often find the Odyssey's interface will randomly behave as if the screen is locked (even though it is not) - in other words it doesn't respond to any touch. Switching the screen lock button on then off again solves this. I notice this mostly when I go to shut down the device, but it has happened at other times too. Is this a general fault, or just on my unit?

You are not alone. I am occasionally seeing this same issue on my 7Q+.
