It most likely is not :-)

But what i am saying is, it would be nice to see and measure side by side.

Its kind of like the new galaxy phones and iphones every year. Its barely an upgrade from last year, but people go mental and praise the new offering. I really would like to see the actual difference.

or sure not ;-) I know one situation very well in Photoshop and various other programs: trying to correct saturation, color, contrast you stared at the screen while you played with the cursor at the slider or color wheel. Less, more, less, less - perfect! And than you realize that you missed the slider and moved the mouse without a function. it was the same image all the time. All changes happened in your brain.
 
It's pretty easy to test for the differences to the FS7 & FS700 image processing. Shoot a few repeatable subjects with the old firmware and then do it again with the new. Please be sure to include some flesh tones in there. Our brains can quickly read differences in skin reproduction.

And conversely, I was sitting here tweaking some settings in an effect for a clip wondering why nothing major was happening although I could swear slight adjustments were ... until I realised the playhead was on a completely different clip to that I was adjusting! Goes to show the power of the brain and seeing what you're expecting to see.
 
Anybody else having problems with your custom 3D-LUTs? I converted some Impulz library Sony FS700 slog2 LUTS to be used with 7Q using that new CD LUT utility program. Went fine. Loaded them into the 7Q, and bummer, do I get a wacky picture after that. All the colors are just wrong. Thoughts?

I had the same problem with the CD 3D-LUT Utility (Mac Version 10.9/10.10 Java 8). Downloaded the CD 3D-LUT Utility (Mac Version 10.6-10.8 Java 6) and it worked as intended.

As a side note if the Mac version refers to OS used that is weird since I'm on 10.9.5.

Did you update your Java?
 
I did the latest update and the focus assist doesnt work like it should. Each of the 3 types are not working. Anyone else having this problem?
 
I've used the updated 7Q+ on a couple shoots now and haven't had any issues with the focus assist. I believe I've used red peaking and the enhanced mode

are you using the latest version of the ImpulZ luts? They released a update to their luts as some people had problems with banding. My 7Q seems to get unresponsive if i try to directly apply the LUTs from the SSD to my footage. If i first load the LUTs into the 7Q i dont get any weird behaviour.

Generally i'd say: Load CDLUTS folder onto the SSD, import LUTs from SSD to the folder you wish, eject SSD, delete CDLUTS folder via computer, reboot 7Q. That way i didn't have any hiccups.

I got mine from Color Grading Central a few months ago. I don't know if they are the latest ones or not, nor do I know how to update them if they are not.
 
Anyone ever have their playback of ProRes recordings on the 7Q appear blue? I'll get that and some stuttering, especially after scrolling. I did put in a ticket, but if it's a known common issue right now i won't worry much. Still getting great results.

One is not supposed to apply the LUTs from the SSD or really to even keep them there. The idea is to transport them to the Odyssey, preview the LUTs in the menu and then move them into folders on the Odyssey. At that point you're probably best off removing the LUTs from your SSD.

If you wish to store LUTs off of your Odyssey, a folder on your computer or an Odyssey Utility Drive would make sense.
 
Please be assured that we are checking into all of the various Support Ticket requests. With the introduction of LUTs we have been flooded with support questions, as we expected. Most are simply questions on how to use the system, but we need to respond to everyone.

Also, it would be helpful to everyone if we could try to keep everything on the new firmware thread. It helps me keep track as well as everyone else.
 
When recording 4K 100/120 -> PRORES HD/2K, does the image stutter/seem choppy on the live view of the odyssey 7q+? Playback is fine though.
On the other hand when recording in RAW, live view is perfectly smooth.

Is this normal?
