I ordered mine from b&h at the right time (last friday)...mine is in transit as we type...a rep from b&h sayed yesterday that he doesnt expect the next batch to come around until august or so...

wow...."we" just made it under the wire then......how lucky!

Im editing my first shots as I type........still dont know what Im doing, but the video looks good.

i read that the newest dvx100b battery has a fully charged life of roughly 5 hours.

Yep...they claim 5 hrs.
I ran mine for around 3 hrs while playing with the presets and still had plenty of juice left. I hate to wear the battery belt...so maybe this battery is all I need for event shooting ...weddings, school programs etc.

If it's any help to somebody who is agonizing (like I did) about getting the DVX-100B versus the Canon XH-A1....... I decided on the DVX-100B, and am loving it.

It was about $800 less money.... but the main consideration was that I can edit with the G5/FinalCut Pro that I already have... and that I can add on a bunch of features like the VariZoom Stealth focus/aperture/zoom controller..... and later on the ReelStream 4:4:4 "Raw" output.... and a Redrock 35 adapter.... and a Century wide angle adapter....and...and...and....

I've been selling special interest videos for 12 years that were all shot on Hi8.... and nobody has complained about them... so this new DVX-100B should be way more than adequate for my market.

When George Lucas calls and wants me to shoot something for him...... I'll go rent a Sony F-23 CineAlta.....

Bottom line..... Just DO IT! Wear the camera out, make a bunch of money... and buy whatever you want with the profits!
