Weirdest Transfer rates with my SD cards USB vs SD-CF Adapter via FW800

So I got a SD to CF adapter to be able to use my FW800 CF reader to dump footage faster in the field. But it seems that I'm getting worse transfer rates then using my USB 2.0 SD card reader. Any possible reason why this is occuring? Its the same exact file (renamed to -2.mov) dumping at the same time to the same place, and the rates are crazy slow.

FW800 SD-CF Adapter- around 15Mbps

USB 2.0 SD - around 20Mbps

Thats insane, and doesn't make sense why its so slow, I SHOULD.. be getting at least 60Mbps out of the FW800, since I usually do. So why is this adapter cause such a slow transfer rate?

It seems the adpator is the bottleneck - it will never be as fast as using a regular CF card.

Remeber that any data workflow is only as fast as the weakest link. Even if the adaptor did not slow things down at all, you would probably not see an improvement in speed because the SD card is likely already working as fast as possible through USB 2.0.
