Hey I was wondering if anybody could explain this.
Recently I did an all photo project for my grandma's memorial service. I used dissolves as my only transition.
My work flow was as follows 24p Avid Project>QT Reference>Cinemacraft encoder MPEG w/ 3:2pulldown.
When I played back my MPEG there was a major problem. Sometimes the pictures wouldn't play for there full 10 sec that I had edited them in AVID and would "fast forward" to the next dissolve transition. I didn't know what the hell was going on.
I looked back at my timeline and noticed that the segments that were "fast forwarding" didn't have any effects on them. So I dropped color correction onto the segments without changing any effect parameters.
I re-rendered the whole project and then tried encoding again. This time it encoded perfectly with the exception that my music did not start where it was supposed to.
Anybody have any idea what was going on? I managed to the fix the problem but I have no idea why what I did should have worked. It makes no logical sense.
The project did turn out beautifully though, Cinemacraft does beautiful MPEG encoding, you can't even tell the difference from the original.
